Exploring the concept of home, I began by revisiting the nostalgic childhood vision of a house—a simple square with a triangle roof often drawn by kids. This iconic image served as my starting point. I then delved into the idea of constructing a home and stumbled upon various exercises that involved crafting foldable paper houses—a playful activity. But what happens when this form transitions into rigid, permanent materials, losing its foldable and interactive nature? It transforms into a static 2D shape, deviating from its original intent.
As I multiplied these forms, it struck me how they create unique negative spaces when stacked alongside each other.
These negative spaces give rise to their own imagery and shapes that are intertwined with the environment they occupy.
This exploration highlights the transformation of an everyday concept into something abstract and interconnected,
challenging our notions of what a “home” can be.
