I’ve juxtaposed an archival map of Sharjah with a contemporary one, overlaying my own hand-drawn tracings of dwellings. By comparing these two maps and considering the rapid development over the past five decades, I’ve noticed that the locations of my current dwellings and tracings appear to be situated in what once seemed like the distant desert, a reflection of shifting perspectives on space and place that have evolved over time. This exploration delves into the interplay between geography, time, and our evolving understanding of our surroundings.
