Inhabiting the past was created in response to the discovery of a 1950’s map depicting a cluster of houses dispersed across the UAE region from an aerial perspective. The pristine and tightly knit arrangement of these dwellings, as opposed to their contemporary counterparts, inspired a captivating juxtaposition. Each painting delves into the minutiae of a single house, offering a close-up exploration. In doing so, I contemplate the transformations that time has wrought and endeavor to immerse myself in the mindset of the people few generations ago. Each unique form I have painted communicates a language of its own, telling a story of heritage and transformation.
